GBK and Capital Radio’s Help a Capital Child have now been working together since the summer of 2009 as our UK charity of choice. To date, we have raised an impressive £206,000 primarily through our “Be Quids in with gbk” campaigns that normally run in January and August.
In addition, we have also supported the charity in a variety of ways including outside barbeques, feeding volunteers taking part in other fund raising activities, “spot” prizes and even collecting through a “swear box” in the office!
The Royal Parks Half Marathon
On October 10th 2010, 50 staff from gbk put on their running shoes and took to the grounds of Hyde Park all in aid of Help a Capital Child. Everyone completed the 13.1 mile course and we raised over £13,000 from this one activity. It was an absolutely fantastic day and a great example of gbk team spirit even if there were some sore legs the next day.
We are now looking for our next challenge so if you have any great ideas then why not drop us a line….. feedback@gbk.co.uk
The Martin Luther King Young People's Partnership
One sunny day in August gbk went along with Capital Drive Time DJ, Greg Burns and visited the Martin Luther King Young People's Partnership project in Islington to provide the children with a lovely lunchtime BBQ of gbk burgers and chicken kebobs. We were also able to announce that they'll be receiving further financial support this year from us. Click here to watch the video or check out the photos below.
